Opening Ceremony TV
For the opening ceremony, more than 1,200 drones soared in the shape of a snowboarder, a dove and the Olympic rings, breaking a world record. Intel, who's behind this magnificent moment, need to take credit. This contextual spot ran right after the reveal of the rings during the ceremony.
Pre-Game Teaser: Get VR Ready
This year, Intel produced the first, live VR broadcast of the Olympic Winter Games. Leading up to the Olympics, we created a teaser campaign inspiring people to grab a headset and download the NBC Sports VR App—and experience the Olympics in virtual reality.

VR and Documentary Series: Athletes Stories
What good is technology if it doesn’t spark emotions? For the first Olympics where you could experience the games in VR, we didn’t want to just create VR films. We wanted to give VR meaning.
To do so, we found Olympians in South Korea, Japan, China and The USA—Olympians with loved ones back home who, for one reason or another, couldn’t travel to South Korea to watch them compete. We shot three VR films, letting users race across the ice with speed skater Fan Kexin, fly 20 feet above the halfpipe with Ayumu Hirano, and meet Marissa and Hannah Brandt—sisters training (and filmed) on opposite sides of the world. We then traveled to the athletes’ hometowns, sharing the VR films with their loved ones.
